The event was held at Patong Beach near the Dolphin or Loma Public Park area. The event began with adult races then kids races and also included a Light Brunch for the hungry contestants. The emphasis was on fun and boosting lifesaving skills as a sport. We talked to some Thai kids: They were Sungklot from Dowroongwittaya School, Jaksapon from Phuket Wittayalai School, Thanavorn from Satree Phuket School, & Nattanon from Satree Phuket School they said this was the first time they joined the event and they enjoyed it; the parents encouraged them to enter and they would like to do this event again in the future. The categories included races for individuals & relays for teams in Surf races, Beach & relays, Board races & relays, Tube races, Board rescues, combined swim/run/board/run relays; beach flag races; & rescue or run/swim/tube/board/carry relays. Whew, thats a lot of races! There were different age categories under 18, 18-30, 30-40, 40-50, over 50 and a Thai National award per event. The prizes included medals or money sponsored by Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort. It was a great fun event with nice incentives to use new skills in a new sport.
